Former West Virginia Mountaineer Victor Scott II has made the opening day roster for the ST. Louis Cardinals and will start in center field following an injury to Dylan Carlson.
Scott was originally reassigned to Minor League Camp just a couple days ago but with Carlson starting the season on the injured list, the Cardinals opted for the 23 year old rookie.
In Scott’s first full professional season last year, he tied for the most stolen bases in the minor league with 94 while also taking home a gold glove award. This year in Spring Training, Scott hit .316 in 38 at-bats with one RBI and four stolen bases.
The Cardinals will open their season on Thursday when they travel to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10.
