West Virginia women’s soccer wins fourth straight with win over Kansas

West Virginia faced Kansas on the road in a Sunday afternoon conference game, seeking their fourth consecutive victory.

The Mountaineers were able to accomplish that, beating Kansas 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas.

It was junior forward Dilary Heredia-Beltran, a Kansas native, who headed in a goal that won the game for the Mountaineers in their 1-0 victory.

A pair of freshmen forwards in Jordyn Wilson and senior midfielder Maya McCutcheon assisted on the score.

In the 68th minute, the Jayhawks shot their best score attempt of the match off the leg of freshman defender Olivia Page. Her shot attempt was saved by senior goalkeeper Kayza Massey.

The win is WVU’s fourth consecutive shutout as well. Next up for the Mountaineers is at home against Cincinnati on Monday, Oct. 23. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
