West Virginia baseball adds second transfer of offseason

West Virginia baseball went to the transfer portal to add Hedgesville native Kyle West from the University of Charleston.

West, an infielder, played the last two seasons at Charleston, .batting 397, with 22 home runs and 60 RBI this past season.

West is the second infielder WVU has picked up in the offseason with the addition of Reed Chumley as well. The Mountaineers are set to return JJ Wetherholt at second base, and mostly rotated a pair of freshman at third base between Ellis Garcia and Sam White. Tevin Tucker was WVU’s shortstop, and he could return for one more season.

In two seasons at UC, White has flourished. He has played 100 games over the past two years, batting .374 with 108 runs scored, 129 hits, 30 home runs, and 102 RBI.

University of Charleston is a DII level program, losing in the NCAA Tournament to Millersville to end their season.
