Ross Hodge lands St. Bonaventure commit

First-year head coach Ross Hodge and WVU Basketball landed another big-time commit late Thursday night.

Chance Moore, a 6-foot-6 wing from St. Bonaventure, becomes the sixth transfer for the Mountaineers this offseason.

Moore, who averaged 13 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season, began his career at Arkansas before transferring to Missouri State. He played two seasons for the Bears, where he averaged 10 points per game in both seasons. He then transferred to St. Bonaventure, where he became one of the best players on a 22-12 Bonnies team.

After a short visit to campus on April 17, Moore quickly chose to call West Virginia home.

In his short career, Ross Hodge has prioritized defensive success. Moore is an athletic players who can guard one through five but can also get a timely bucket if the team needs it, making him a perfect fit in Hodge’s system.

Positionally, Moore is a valuable commit for the Mountaineers, who still needed a wing player in the portal. With the offseason just beginning, WVU still has time to round out its roster and find even more depth at the position.

West Virginia is making quality progress toward building a roster worthy of the NCAA Tournament. It will be interesting to see how Hodge approaches the next month in the everyday battle that is the transfer portal.
