Within the hour it was announced that Ofri Naveh, a 6’7 red shirt forward would enter the portal with three years of eligibility remaining according to his agent.
The 185-pound red shirt Sophomore played two seasons for the Mountaineers. In his true freshman season Naveh scored a total of 5 points against Radford, 5 points and 4 rebounds against Drexel, and 11 points against Pitt. He also posted 9 points against St. John’s, 10 points and 6 rebounds against Bellarmine, and had 7 rebounds against Virginia. In his first collegiate game, he scored 4 points against Missouri State and made his first career start against Jax State, finishing with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Before playing for West Virginia Naveh played professional basketball overseas in his home country of Israel where he competed in the summer of 2023 in FIBA U18 European Championship. Over the course of seven games, Naveh averaged 11 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1 block per game. He also recorded shooting percentages of 54% from the field, 47% from beyond the arc, and 67% from the free-throw line.
Despite redshirting his Sophomore season, Naveh was a huge asset for the Mountaineers on both sides of the ball and he will surely make a huge impact on whatever team he decides to transfer into.
