The Mountaineers willed themselves to a victory today at Boulder against a Colorado team that has been struggling as of late.
Head Coach Darian DeVries believes the team’s lack of depth is becoming an issue against deeper teams such as the Buffaloes.
“We are a little short-handed, so we do get fatigued sometimes in the second half. We just don’t have the amount of bodies we need to substitute,” DeVries said.
Senior guard Joseph Yesufu created a major lift off the bench; contributing 18 much-needed points for the Mountaineers.
“I thought Joe Yesufu coming in gave us a good spark when we needed it the most,” said DeVries. “I thought Joe was a little more fresh than the other guys, and was able to will us to the last finish line,” he added.
The Mountaineers will immediately hit the road and head to Houston for their big matchup on Wednesday. DeVries believes the travel will not affect his guys, who will have three days to adjust once landed.
