Sophomore wide receiver, Traylon Ray, committed to Ole Miss Wednesday afternoon during an official visit. He spent two successful seasons with West Virginia before entering the transfer portal following the firing of Neal Brown.
Originally from Tallahassee, Florida, Ray attended North Florida Christian School where he was named to the Class 2A All-State First Team in football as a senior and earned all-conference first team honors in football, basketball and baseball. Ray committed to West Virginia in early November of 2022 but received offers from Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, and others.
Ray arrived on campus in late spring following the conclusion of his senior baseball season. He was one of the most highly anticipated players in the 2023 class. Ray was the team’s leading receiver in a summer scrimmage before the start of the 2023 season.
As a true freshman, Ray played in 12 games and started five. He recorded 18 catched for 321 yards and had three touchdowns. During the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against North Carolina, Ray had a season-high 91 yards, a season-long 75-yard touchdown catch, and tied his season-best with three catches.
This season, Ray saw action in ten games before missing the rest of the season due to a lower body injury during the matchup against Baylor. He had a productive season with 28 catches for 426 yards and four touchdowns. All four of his touchdowns came in conference play.
Ray leaves West Virginia with two years of eligibility remaining.
