Incoming WVU football coach issues farewell address to Jacksonville State

As head coach Rich Rodriguez transitions out of Jacksonville and into Morgantown, his assistant coaches are making the difficult transition as well.

Will Bernhardt, West Virginia’s incoming strength and conditioning coach for the 2025 football season, posted his gratitude for the Jacksonville State program on X on Wednesday.

“Thank you, Jax State!” Bernhardt wrote.

“The people make the place, and for the last 2 years, Jacksonville has been home. I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity. I owe it all to the athletes, without y’all none of this is possible.”

Jacksonville State gave Bernhardt his first full-time opportunity in college football with a position he has held since January of 2023. The Gamecocks will also be losing their baseball strength and conditioning director with Bernhardt’s departure.

Regardless of the impact Jacksonville, Alabama has on Bernhardt’s career and life, he still looks forward to the future with excitement.

“I’m excited for this next chapter with WVU football,” Bernhardt said to conclude his post.

Alongside Rodriguez, Bernhardt will start working to create the next generation of WVU Football this offseason ahead of the annual team scrimmage this spring.
