As WVU Baseball transitions from its fall preseason to its spring schedule, senior infielder Brodie Kresser is standing out within the team.
Kresser, who will play his second season at WVU in 2025 after transferring from Des Moines Area Community College as a junior, was named the program’s Iron Mountaineer for 2024 on Friday.
The Iron Mountaineer Award, which also exists within WVU’s football program, recognizes hard workers during the offseason. Without fans watching, Kresser made an impression on Steve Sabins, who will take over this year as head coach after nine years as an assistant.
Last season, Kresser hit the team’s fourth best average, at a .278 rate, and started in 42 of his 47 appearances.
West Virginia kicks off its spring season on Feb. 14 in Jacksonville.
