West Virginia women’s basketball coach Mark Kellogg addressed the altercation involving Mountaineers guard Sydney Shaw and a Bowling Green player following a win on Tuesday.
Shaw appeared to throw a punch at one of the opposing players during the game. She was ejected following a disqualifying foul.
When asked if he had seen the incident or spoken to Shaw about it, Kellogg said, “No to both. I have not seen it at all. I actually missed all the replays. I have not talked to Sydney (Shaw) yet, but obviously, that will be addressed for sure. That’s not us. We can’t do that. We can’t react that way. She has to be better than that. That’s not what we’re about. That’s really disappointing, so we’ll address that tomorrow.”
This is Shaw’s first season in Morgantown after spending her first two at Auburn. She starts on a nightly basis for WVU. She is averaging 13.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and over two steals per game.
The Mountaineers (5-0) will face West Lafayette (1-3) at the Coliseum on Friday night.
