Former WVU assistant Jordan McCabe has been hired by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as an assistant coach.
McCabe was a guard for the Mountaineers from 2018-2021 before transferring to UNLV for two seasons to finish his career. He was brought in as an assistant for West Virginia last June by interim head coach Josh Eilert.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be coming home!” McCabe said in Green Bay’s press release. “My fiancĂ© Olivia and I want to thank Coach Wicks, Josh Moon, and the entire UWGB family for welcoming us. They have all worked hard at returning the Phoenix basketball program to its rightful place and continue to push it forward. I promise to work every single day and do my best to meet the standard that has been set in Green Bay! Let’s RISE!”.
McCabe is originally from Kaukauna, Wisconsin and was Wisconsin Mr. Basketball in 2018. In 94 games with the Mountaineers under Bob Huggins, he averaged 3.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists. At just 25 years old, McCabe was well-respected by players this past season and has got an opportunity elsewhere possibly setting himself up for a bright coaching career.
