WVU lands high school prospect originally committed to Drake

Emerson ‘KJ’ Tenner, a 6-foot point guard announced he would be committing to West Virginia on Thursday.

Tenner originally committed and signed to play at Drake, but was granted a National Letter of Intent release after head coach Darian DeVries was hired by WVU. Tenner was recently named Tennessee’s Class 4A Mr Basketball and has consistently averaged over 20 points per game has past four seasons at Cordova High.

With Carmelo Adkins, the Mountaineers’ only class of 2024 signee, de-committing Thursday, DeVries added another 2024 guard, whom he originally recruited while he was at Drake.
