West Virginia women’s basketball is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year as they earned a No. 8 seed.
The Mountaineers are set for a first round matchup against No. 9 Princeton on, and they will face the winner of No. 1 Iowa vs No. 16 Holy Cross/UT Martin. If everything holds as expected and West Virginia beat Princeton, they will face Big Ten Champion Iowa behind superstar Caitlin Clark.
WVU heads to Iowa City in the Iowa region for the first two rounds of the tournament.
West Virginia has not advanced in the NCAA Tournament since 2021, when they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. WVU has not made it past the second round of the NCAA Tournament since 1992.
The Mountaineers finished the 2023-2024 season under first-year head coach Mark Kellogg with a 24-7, with all seven losses coming in Big 12 play.
