In a list created by 247 Sports’ Carter Bahns, West Virginia’s running back room came in at No. 10 of the 10 best running back rooms entering spring.
The Mountaineers running back room features the likes of returning freshman All-American Jahiem White and power back CJ Donaldson.
As a freshman, the 5-foot-7 speedy White saw an increased role midseason and made the most of it, rushing for 842 yards on 109 carries with four touchdowns (7.7 yards per carry). White has also been a threat in the passing game, catching five passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Donaldson has dealt with injuries in his first two seasons with WVU but has scored 19 touchdowns on the ground in his career. The 6-foot-1, 238-pound back was originally recruited to play tight end but switched to back. Last season, Donaldson rushed for 798 yards and 11 touchdowns on 171 carries.
West Virginia is also returning redshirt junior Jaylen Anderson, who has put up 479 all-purpose yards and three rushing touchdowns in 13 games played since 2022. On top of that, the Mountaineers also signed running back Traevon Dunbar to their 2024 recruiting class. Dunbar was a three-star recruit and rushed for over 3,000 yards and 42 touchdowns his senior year.
