On Wednesday morning, West Virginia University announced they will be moving on from interim head coach Josh Eilert and conducting a national search for the next head men’s basketball coach.
Eilert took to social media to release a statement thanking Mountaineer fans.
“I do not know what the future holds and quite honestly, I’m at peace with that. Someone once asked me throughout this process if I regretted taking this position, knowing what I know now, and the answer was then, and still is, a resounding no,” Eilert said in his statement.
Eilert served at WVU for 17 years in multiple capacities within the men’s basketball program. Eilert’s team finished 9-23 this season, including a first round loss to Cincinnati in the Big 12 Tournament on Tuesday.
WVU now begins a national coaching search as WVU Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced on Wednesday morning.
