The 2024 baseball season is a month away and with that comes D1Baseball’s Preseason Top 25.
The Mountaineers, who finished 2023 with 40 wins and an NCAA Regional appearance, were not included in D1Baseball’s Preseason Top 25.
There were four teams in the Big 12 that were ranked in the top 25 — No. 5 TCU, No. 16 Texas, No. 21 Texas Tech, and No. 24 Kansas State. The Mountaineers have three of those four teams on the schedule (TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas State), with the Kansas State series set to be played in Morgantown.
West Virginia will return JJ Wetherholt, who is thought of as one of the top prospects in all of college baseball. WVU lost two weekend starters on the mound, including Ben Hampton, who transferred to TCU.
WVU begins their season on Feb. 16, against Stetson.
