No. 21 West Virginia wrestling cruises in win over Air Force

The No. 21 West Virginia Mountaineers defeated Air Force 27-11 on the road, in a dual match on Friday, bringing their team record to 4-1.

WVU got on the board first at 125 with No. 25 Jett Strickenberger defeating No. 27 Tucker Owens by decision 10-8.

Air Force would get those points right back however with Brendan Barnes scoring the 5-3 decision over Davin Rhoads at 133, nodding the match up at 3.

West Virginia would then make a run from 141-174 that started with a decision from No. 22 Jordan Titus, followed by a pin by No. 28 Ty Watters and ended with three straight major decisions from No. 28 Caleb Dowling, No. 12 Peyton Hall and No. 29 Brody Conley.

With the score at 24-3, Air Force’s No. 10 Sam Wolf earned a narrow 3-1 decision over No. 24 Dennis Robin.

No. 28 Austin Cooley would make those points up in the next bout defeating his opponent 4-2.

The match ended with No. 2 Wyatt Hendrickson of Air Force technical falling No. 23 Michael Wolfgram (15-0, 1:21).

The Mountaineers will stay in Colorado as they will take on Northern Colorado at 3 p.m. EST Sunday in another Big 12 matchup, the match can be streamed on FloWrestling.
