Jose Perez hints at return of black uniforms for West Virginia basketball

WVU basketball could be returning to an old look — the black uniforms.

Over the past few years, West Virginia basketball has had the same look of uniform — blue, gold, gray, and white. Recently, with the new hire of Director of Athletics Wren Baker, there has been somewhat of a movement on social media to return to the black uniforms.

Jose Perez — who recently decided he will be using his final year of eligibility at WVU — said in a YouTube video with Classic Kickz, that WVU will have the new black uniforms for WVU next season.

“I think we got the black one because we got the new AD,” Perez said during a facility tour. “We’ll wear black next year.”

Perez also said WVU will not be taking away any of the current uniforms they wear, adding that, “we’ll have five [uniforms].”

Perez then pitched what his idea was which is having a pink uniform next season.

“I’m trying to get a pink (uniforms) in February for breast cancer,” Perez said. “I’m trying to see if we [can] do it.”

The full video and tour of the facility with Perez can be seen here.
