West Virginia beat Iowa State on the road 72-69 on Monday night, helping their computer rankings, and also giving them a boost in the latest Bracketology predictions.
The Mountaineers’ win pushed WVU up one spot in KenPom rankings from 20th to 19th. The NET was also kind to the Mountaineers, as they gained three spots from 26th to 23rd.
Bracketology was also kind to WVU following their road victory. Bart Tovik now gives WVU an 85.4% chance to make the NCAA Tournament as an 8-seed. Bracket Matrix lists WVU as an average seed of 10.9.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi moved WVU from last four in to last four byes, and have them as a 10-seed facing Maryland in the West Regional first round.

USA Today’s bracket predictions had an even more interesting matchup for the Mountaineers. The Backyard Brawl NCAA Tournament style. This morning, USA Today featured WVU as a 10-seed like ESPN, but had them facing Pitt in the West Regional first round.

West Virginia has two games left. The first on Saturday against Kansas State and the second presumably against Texas Tech in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.
