Former Mountaineer Geno Smith’s breakout year is paying off as the Seattle Seahawk is headed to his first-ever Pro Bowl.
Smith this season has played in 14 games, completing 71.4% of his passes, while throwing for 3,671 yards and 26 touchdowns, while just throwing eight interceptions.
Smith has also been effective on the ground, rushing for 281 yards and a touchdown.
Smith came into 2022 not knowing if he would be named the starting quarterback for the Seahawks after they traded away longtime quarterback Russell Wilson. Smith would earn the job and beat Wilson in week one, prompting his famous line, “they wrote me off, I ain’t write back though.”
Smith certainly is writing back with his first Pro Bowl appearance coming in his tenth year in the league.
Smith was one of three quarterbacks named to the NFC roster, including Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings.
