West Virginia continues to hit the transfer portal just like many other schools. The Mountaineers are going after speed guys on both sides of the ball, and are looking to add to their roster.
Donovan McMillon, Florida, DB
Donovan McMillion is a talented defensive back from Florida, who has received an offer from West Virginia. McMillon had 30.0 total tackles this year.
Braden Fiske, Western Michigan, DL
Braden Fiske just finished his fifth season at Western Michigan, after starting the last three seasons. Fiske started the last three seasons, finishing with 124 tackles and 12.5 sacks, to go along with three forced fumbles.
CJ Dippre, Maryland, TE
Cj Dippre is a highly-touted transfer from University of Maryland. A tight end, Dippre had 30 catches for 313 yards and three touchdowns this season. Dippre is already taking a visit to Alabama, and the 6-foot-5, 260-pound tight end is one of the hottest commodities in the portal.
Dante Cephas, Kent State, WR
Another top transfer WVU is looking at is Dante Cephas, a wide receiver from Kent State. Cephas has other offers from schools such as Penn State, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Colorado. Cephas just finished his junior season at Kent State, catching 48 passes for 744 yards and three touchdowns. In 2021, Cephas had nine touchdown receptions.
Tyrese Chambers, FIU, WR
Tyrese Chambers was mentioned in our first transfer portal rundown, but Chambers gave an update on his status regarding WVU. Chambers put WVU in his top eight, which included, Colorado, Cincinnati, UConn, Arizona State, UCF, Toledo, Maryland, along with West Virginia. Chambers had 54 catches for 544 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Rara Thomas, Mississippi State, WR
Rara Thomas of Mississippi State is another wide receiver on West Virginia’s radar. Thomas caught 44 passes for 626 yards, and seven touchdowns this season. Thomas, was a sophomore this past season.
Gavin Holmes, Wake Forest, DB
Gavin Holmes was a shutdown cornerback, who graded out really well. Holmes just finished his redshirt-sophomore season, and according to Pro Football Focus, had the most coverage snaps without allowing a catch among Power Five corners (41). Holmes also has interest from Baylor, Texas, Ole Miss, and Oregon State among others.
Theo Wease, Oklahoma, WR
Theo Wease is yet another wide receiver the West Virginia coaching staff is interested in. Wease has been at Oklahoma since 2019, and has 64 catches for 1,044 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career. Wease used a redshirt in 2021 as he only played in one game.
