The WVU basketball team will have a new assistant coach this season, as Bob Huggins promoted Josh Eilert to the position Tuesday afternoon. Eilert has spent the last 15 seasons on the staff as the Assistant Athletics Director for Basketball Operations and is replacing former assistant coach Erik Martin.

Eilert came to West Virginia in 2007 after he served as a graduate assistant at Kansas State under Huggins for the 2006-07 season.

Eilert started his career at WVU as the video coordinator for Huggins and moved into the administrative role in 2013.

In 2021, he was named to the Top 50 Notable Division I Support Staff by Silver Waves Media.
