When asked what he will bring to the WVU football program, class of 2023 commit Rodney Gallagher
simply said, “A winner.”
The sixth-highest rated recruit in WVU football history recently had his official visit in Morgantown,
saying it made his commitment “more surreal.”
“This program is just the best fit for me all around the board,” Gallagher said. “I’m so glad to be a part of
this program and can’t wait for it to be official.”
Gallagher credited the coaching staff for “treating him like family,” giving a special acknowledgement to
Safeties Coach Dontae Wright for making him feel the most at home during his visit.
Gallagher calls himself a competitor – something he says will impact the program upon his arrival. He
believes the class of 2023 is bringing something special to West Virginia: “We’re all on a mission, and we
want to win,” he said.
Although the Laurel Highlands standout is known for his impressive statistics and dual-threat abilities,
Gallagher also prides himself on being a great teammate.
“I’m just someone you want to be around,” Gallagher said. “I’ll push you every single day to be better.”
Gallagher is a great teammate off the field, too: “You can talk to me about anything when you need me
to be there,” he said.
Gallagher is excited for the future and to have the opportunity to make an impact on WVU’s program.
“I can’t wait to get to work,” Gallagher said. “I’m proud to be a Mountaineer.”
