Former Mountaineer David Sills’ NFL career hasn’t been smooth, but he accomplished a major milestone on Sunday.
Now a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Sills, 29, caught his first career touchdown in the NFL. Sills’ touchdown reception came from Kirk Cousins and was one of his two catches in the game. He caught two passes for 16 yards on the day as the Falcons beat the Saints 24-10.
Sills now has six receptions for 50 yards this season, his first in Atlanta as he’s embarking on a return to the league after failing catch on with a team following his release from the Giants in January of 2023.
Sills spent the 2021 and 2022 season in New York, making 13 receptions in 15 games played across two seasons.
Prior to his NFL career, Sills played three seasons for the Mountaineers in 2015 and 2017-18, totaling 132 receptions for 2,097 yards and 35 touchdowns. He started his football career as a quarterback and was once a top recruit of then USC head coach Lane Kiffin.
