West Virginia football’s head coach, Rich Rodriguez, visited ‘3 Guys Before The Game’ with hosts Tony Caridi, Brad Howe, and Hoppy Kercheval to discuss Rodriguez’s return to Morgantown.
Rodriguez had a previous stint with West Virginia from 2001-2007 and led the Mountaineers to four conference championships. He comes back home in high hopes of turning the football program around.
Each spring semester, the Mountaineers play an intrasquad game to determine where the team is at physically. The last three years, the game has fallen in late April. Rodriguez shared his team is starting spring ball earlier this year due to an already set Gold-Blue Spring Game for April 5.
“Today was the first tour duty, but after the signing date come next Wednesday, all the coaches are around, because we only have two more weeks, and then we start spring ball at the end of February. We’re starting it early and will be done by the first of April,” Rodriguez said.
An earlier game will allow West Virginia coaches to gauge where their brand new team stands for the upcoming 2025 season.
