West Virginia Baseball’s Kyle West was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week as announced earlier today.
The Hedgesville, West Virginia native hit .600 (6-for-10) in the series sweep over Baylor at Kendrick Family Ballpark this past weekend, recording at least one RBI in every game with home runs in Friday and Saturday’s games. West also scored eight runs and stole two bases.
In his first season with the team after transferring in from Charleston, West is batting .301 with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs, with the latter two of the three leading the team.
West is the second Mountaineer baseball player to earn a conference award this season, joining Derek Clark back on April 8 when he was named the Big 12 Pitcher and Newcomer of the Week.
