No. 2 West Virginia suffers first loss of season to Kentucky in final road match

For fifteen straight contests, the Mountaineers hadn’t lost. That was until their second to last match of the season and their final road match.

The Mountaineers were shut out in Lexington, Kentucky, marking just the second time they’d been shutout this season (0-0 tie with Georgia Southern).

The game-winning goal was scored by freshman midfielder Alfred Baafi at ‘32 for Kentucky.

West Virginia is now 11-1-4 on the year, 4-1-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.

The Mountaineers will look to finish their regular season strong against Old Dominion on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The match can be streamed on ESPN+.
