The 2023 Big 12 schedule for the West Virginia women’s soccer team has been revealed.
This season will be a different one for the Mountaineers, as BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF will all be joining the conference. Due to these new additions, this will be the first season that West Virginia will not play every team in the conference as there will only be 10 conference games this season.
The Mountaineers will begin their conference title defense on Thursday, Sept. 14, as they will travel to UCF to take on the Knights for just the third time in program history, and first since 1999. The first home conference game for the Mountaineers will take place on Thursday, Sept. 21, as Iowa State will come to town. The Mountaineers will close out that weekend at home against TCU on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Following the TCU game, the Mountaineers will travel to Texas for a two-game road slate, with the first being against Texas on Thursday, Sept. 28. The Mountaineers will then travel to Houston to take on the Cougars for the first time in program history on Sunday, Oct. 1.
WVU will then head back to Morgantown for a weekend of action, with the first of the games taking place on Thursday, Oct. 5, when the Oklahoma Sooners come to town. The Mountaineers will conclude the weekend against Oklahoma State on Sunday, Oct. 8.
For the final road trip of the season, WVU will travel to Kansas, first taking on Kansas State on Thursday, Oct. 12. The trip will conclude with a game against Kansas on Sunday, Oct. 15.
West Virginia will conclude the regular season on Senior Night with a home game against Cincinnati on Monday, Oct. 23. This will be the third time the two teams have met and the first since 2010.
The Big 12 Championship will begin on Oct. 28 at Round Rock, as the Mountaineers will look to defend their title from last year. This year will feature a new format, with 10 teams in the field in a single-elimination bracket.
Information about the nonconference schedule and tickets for the home slate will be announced at a later date.
