Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop had two interceptions Sunday night in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the New York Jets.
WVU redshirt senior Ja’Quay Hubbard had nothing but good things to say about the NFL rookie and his former teammate. Although he played just one season for West Virginia, Bishop made his mark in Morgantown, leading the nation in passes defended and became a consensus All-American.
After going undrafted in the 2024 NFL draft in April, Bishop signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent. After an impressive offseason and camp, he made the 53-man roster with a starting spot.
“Will over skill. That’s kind of Beanie’s mindset,” Hubbard said.
Being only 5-feet-9, Bishop often heard that he was undersized and wouldn’t make it past college football.
“All he ever needed was a chance,” Hubbard said of Bishop. “If you don’t get drafted, if you get a chance, maximize your opportunity and the sky’s the limit.”
Hubbard shared that guys like Bishop motivate those trying to make it big. Hubbard, himself, is playing his last year of collegiate football and looking to take his talents to the next level.
