WVU football gained a commitment from the class of 2023 defensive back Jayden Bell on Monday afternoon. Bell played this past season for St. Thomas Aquinas high school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and they went undefeated this season. Bell accepted a preferred walk-on offer to play for the Mountaineers.
The commitment continues the theme of Neal Brown securing the commitments of legacy players, with Noah Braham, Tory Johnson Jr. and Josaiah Trotter joining Bell as legacy commits in the class of 2023.
Bell’s father, Grantis Bell, played for West Virginia from 1984 to 1988. He recorded 819 receiving yards, six touchdowns and 110 rushing yards. Grantis Bell played in 41 games for the Mountaineers in his career.
His son Jayden Bell will look to shore up a defensive secondary that struggled last season and has dealt with injuries.
