Geno Smith wins NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award

Former Mountaineer and current Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has won the NFL’s AP Comeback Player of the Year Award.

Smith who was a full-time starter for the first time since 2014 this season, passed for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns and led the NFL in completion percentage, while leading the Seahawks to the playoffs. Smith was also named to the NFL’s Pro Bowl this year.

Smith beat out running backs Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley for the award. Smith received 171 total points, while McCaffrey had 110.
